Twenty-eleven marks the 30th Anniversary of the Faculty of Medicine, the 20th Anniversary of the Nethersole School of Nursing, and the 10th Anniversary of the School of Public Health and Primary Care. Since its establishment in 1981, our Faculty has trained over 5,000 doctors, nurses, pharmacists and public health professionals, who have gone on to serve the community with their skills, professionalism, passion and determination.
To celebrate this important milestone, we will stage a wide array of activities throughout the year. We have already kicked off the celebration with a launching ceremony and Fun Run 2011 on January 15, 2011 in collaboration with Chung Chi College, which is celebrating its 60th Anniversary this year.
The highlight of the year will be our Faculty Gala Dinner, which will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2011, at the Grand Hall, Level 3, Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. This is a propitious time for our staff, alumni, students and friends to celebrate our achievements and strengthen the bonds among ourselves and to the community. I look forward to seeing you all at this reunion gathering.
Towards the end of 2011, we plan to invite our alumni for a reunion and to visit the renovated Clinical Sciences Building, followed by a dinner at Madam SH Ho Hostel.
This is just a snapshot of what we have planned, and we will be posting more events and details on our web site in the months ahead. This is also a perfect platform to bridge our Faculty and our staff, alumni, students, and friends so I encourage you to visit it regularly to learn about these activities and how you can participate in them. We have also created a Facebook group to allow staff, alumni, students and friends to post their messages, photos and videos reminiscing about their life at the Faculty. This web site and Facebook group belong to you, so we welcome your suggestions on how they can be enhanced.
We look forward to your continued support, both in spirit and in kind.
