Prince of Wales Hospital

Major Teaching Hospital – Prince of Wales Hospital

The Prince of Wales Hospital is a regional acute hospital operated under the auspices of the Hospital Authority. It also serves as the teaching hospital of the CUHK Faculty of Medicine. Since its opening in 1984, the hospital has provided the community with comprehensive quality healthcare, nurtured healthcare professionals and spearheaded medical research.

The hospital and the university work in close collaboration to provide patients with comprehensive service of the highest quality.

Professional standards are also enhanced through experience sharing and the promotion of academic exchanges, introduction of the latest technology and conducting of large-scale research projects.

To provide additional space to meet the long-term medical demands of the community and the training needs of healthcare professionals, the HKSAR Government and Hospital Authority commissioned the construction of an extension block in 2007. The main clinical block and the Trauma Centre commenced services in October 2010. With a total gross floor area of 71,500 square meters, this 13-storey building equipped with 870 inpatient beds, state-of-the-art facilities and innovative technology provides a better environment for patients.
