UC Berkeley Student Participates In SURP

Undergraduate student Henry Kim of UC Berkeley is among the 80 students selected to join this year’s Summer Undergraduate Research Programme (SURP) at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Under the supervision of Prof Ronald Wang from our Department of Obstetricts & Gynaecology, Henry is taking part in a research on Green Tea for the Treatment of Endometriosis; his first encounter with eastern and western integrative medicine.

“This attachment has totally changed my view on laboratory research, which I used to think of as boring data analysis. Here, I am getting to perform ovariectomy on mice and work on MRI scans. I really enjoy seeing how the research gets applied into clinical practice.”

SURP is an eight-week attachment programme that aims at providing international undergraduate students the opportunity to develop research skills and knowledge while working alongside experts in the field. Students get to enjoy cultural tours to explore the city, attend research talks to expand their horizons, and wrap up their attachment with a poster sharing session.
