Ranking 1st in Hong Kong, 1st in Asia and 22nd in the world in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2021 (Nursing), the Nethersole School of Nursing - Hong Kong’s first university nursing department - has been offering world-class nursing education since its inception in 1991 and gerontology education since 2012. We now have around 2,000 students enrolled in our undergraduate, postgraduate and professional programmes.
The School plays an active role internationally, collaborating with mainland and overseas universities while hosting international conferences. Following the success of the 6th Pan-Pacific Nursing Conference (2016), the 8th Nursing Symposium on Cancer Care (2018) and the First Cochrane Hong Kong Symposium (2019), we will host the 7th Pan-Pacific Nursing Conference in May 2021.
Our cutting-edge research, executed through our three research theme groups, promotes evidence-based nursing practices and nursing leadership on cardiovascular, metabolic and stroke care, cancer and palliative care, ageing, behavioural and mental wellness. We have also established several research centres to support our School’s research work, such as Cochrane Hong Kong which is the 2nd nursing-led Cochrane affiliate in the world. In addition, with our Asia-Pacific Genomic and Genetic Nursing Centre and the Croucher Laboratory for Human Genomics, we can investigate genetic factors, bio-behavioural markers and psychosocial factors to advance our research in biomedical areas and strengthen the basic science elements in our nursing research.
