Help us explore new frontiers in medicine
We are breaking through the barriers to knowledge by undertaking innovative research in the field of medicine. From developing a new implant for osteoporotic fractures to pioneering new treatments for lung cancer, what we uncover will have a lasting impact on healthcare and society.
Your gift will mean so much. It will not only empower our league of well-known researchers to advance health science research, but also benefit the next generation of young researchers just embarking on their careers.
The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) is honoured to receive a generous donation of HK$1 million from the Tsz Shan Monastery in support of the study entitled “Loving-kindness and Compassion Meditation: Exploring and Evaluating its Effectiveness on Improving Psychological Well-being among Stressed Professionals in Hong Kong” undertaken by Prof. Samuel Y.S. At the Chow Yuk Ho Technology Centre, we are venturing into the world of tomorrow and turning what was once considered science fiction into reality. This cutting-edge research centre focuses on three areas of biomedical engineering - Robotics, Imaging and Biosensing.
A remarkably generous donation for a professorship in surgery has enabled Prof. LAU Yun Wong James to continue his work in gastrointestinal surgery and endoscopy. Among his many accomplishments, Prof. LAU has contributed invaluable insights in the treatment of bleeding peptic ulcers and published more than 180 papers in scientific journals.
The Professorship in Clinical Oncology has enabled researcher Prof. Tony S.K. MOK to lead the fight in finding a cure for lung cancer. Until recently, this had been a losing struggle. But with the work of Prof. MOK and his team, our understanding of this devastating disease continues to grow.
Thanks to the generosity of Dr. the Honourable LUI Che Woo and his foundation, the establishment of Institute of Innovative Medicine gives us the opportunity to explore new breakthroughs in many different areas of medicine, including stroke, dementia, dyslexia, coronary heart disease and sports injuries.
