Being the first programme of its kind in Asia, GPS aims to inspire students to unleash their potential, broaden their perspectives, and develop their leadership skills in fields such as healthcare and research. To date, nearly 250 GPS graduates are serving in healthcare systems, as well as scientific research and global health sectors. Numerous medical graduates have pursued further studies at world-renowned universities such as Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge, and have returned to CU Medicine in pursuit of medical service, teaching and research.

CU Medicine’s Graduate Entry Track admits only graduates with first-class honours from the world’s top universities

Earlier in March this year, CU Medicine announced the launch of the GET medical programme, commencing in the 2025/26 academic year. With an intake of 25 students, GET offers a pioneering medical training opportunity for university graduates aspiring to pursue a career in medicine. Upon a stringent selection process, all students admitted hold first-class honours degrees in related disciplines such as biomedical sciences or other scientific fields, demonstrating stellar academic performance and a passion for medicine. Over 70% are graduates from world-leading universities overseas, including the University of Oxford, the University of Cambridge, Imperial College London, the University of California, the University of Toronto and the University of Sydney. The remaining students are graduates of local universities with top world rankings, with approximately 70% graduated from CUHK.

In addition, CU Medicine has also admitted very outstanding IB candidates, including 30 IB full marks top scorers.

Professor Philip Chiu Wai-yan, Dean of CU Medicine, remarked: “High-achieving students of this generation often consider more than just academic rankings when choosing a school. They carefully assess factors like campus culture, international opportunities, teaching philosophy, and the overall learning environment in a holistic approach. We are delighted with the strong admission outcome this year. Through multiple pathways, we have attracted students with outstanding academic achievements and a genuine passion for medicine from diverse backgrounds. This stands as a strong testament to the broad recognition for CU Medicine’s supportive learning environment, teaching philosophy and high quality.

CU Medicine remains steadfast in its commitment to “Transforming our passion into perfection”, dedicated to nurturing healthcare leaders equipped with the global vision and innovative capabilities essential for the 21st century. This mission aligns seamlessly with the government’s strategic focus on nurturing talent in innovation and technology, and positioning Hong Kong as an international health and medical innovation hub. We value holistic education dearly and CUHK’s distinctive college system empowers students to pursue academic excellence, develop their characters and enhance their interpersonal skills in an all-rounded manner. We are going to launch a new experiential learning programme CU Medicine+ this year enriching students’ life experience via humanitarian service, research, and clinical attachments, as well as getting more international exposure.

CU Medicine’s curriculum is designed with flexibility, allowing students to take part in overseas clinical placements, medical and scientific research, humanitarian service, or cultural exploration at a time that best suits their interests and aspirations, in order to broaden their horizons and enrich their exposure across multiple disciplines. We uphold our promise to every student – ‘you dare to dream, we dare to help you achieve it’. We aspire to nurture every doctor of tomorrow by aiming to excel in everything we do, but be ethical and empathetic doctors who keep up with the times. We look forward to seeing you all in CU Medicine!’’
