Founder of a Student Association of Neuroscience

Realising the strong potential of neuroscience and the increasing importance of neurological and psychological health nowadays, WONG Hoi Wing Queenie, a Year 4 GPS student founded the Hong Kong Student Association of Neuroscience (HKSAN) together with other medical students in Hong Kong in 2020, with an aim to connect and inspire Hong Kong students for the advancement and popularisation of neuroscience through enlightenment, enrichment, and empowerment.

A range of activities have been organised by the association, including the first-ever Annual Conference 2020, which assembled 14 speakers and more than 100 students to present and discuss neurology, neurosurgery, neuropathology, psychiatry, basic neuroscience, and computational neuroscience; a two-day Neurosurgery Bootcamp covering case discussions, video surgical demonstrations and interactive sessions hosted by experienced neurosurgery doctors; and also several webinars and research workshops.

 

“I am very delighted to work with a passionate team to promote scientific research, clinical experience, and public health in neuroscience. I have also got valuable opportunities to learn from dedicated scientists, doctors, and peers who excel in this area,” said Queenie.
