Mok Hing Yiu Visiting Professor Public Lecture 2023

Under the Mok Hing Yiu Visiting Professorship Scheme supported by Mok Hing Yiu Charitable Foundation, CU Medicine was honoured to welcome Professor Patrick MAXWELL, Mok Hing Yiu Visiting Professor, Regius Professor of Physic and Head of School of Clinical Medicine of the University of Cambridge, to deliver a distinguished lecture on “Making Precision a Reality” on 27 February 2023.

The lecture was attended by over 200 healthcare and business professionals, academia, CUHK staff, as well as university and secondary school students to learn about the possibilities brought by precision medicine.

In the lecture, Professor MAXWELL talked about the current efforts by the University of Cambridge in carrying out large scale genomics research for more precise diagnosis and effective therapies in the fields of oncology, pregnancy, and obesity. Professor MAXWELL also stressed the importance of global collaboration to accelerate genomic discovery in diverse populations and promote the implementation of precision medicine on a global scale.
 

The Mok Hing Yiu Visiting Professorship Scheme

The Mok Hing Yiu Visiting Professorship Scheme was established by CUHK in memory of the late Dr. Mok Hing Yiu with a generous donation from the Mok family. The aim of the scheme is to advance teaching, research and academic development of CUHK. Under the scheme, one widely acclaimed scholar will be invited to Hong Kong on an annual basis, and will participate in teaching and scholastic exchange and will deliver a professorial lecture in a public forum to inspire staff and students of CUHK, alumni, professional groups and the general public.
