Student Darrel Au of Australian National University recently did a 3 week attachment with us at The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Based on recommendation from friends who gave him good feedback, Darrel applied for his elective with us in the Department of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care. Though he has previously followed individual doctors in Australia and private hospitals in Hong Kong, this was his first formal academic attachment and he very much enjoyed the experience. Following a flexible schedule based on his own interests, he has been in the operating theater and even in the intensive care unit, learning side by side with our local students.

“The attachment is well structured and the professors are very willing to teach. I was surprised to find many teaching staff of international background here, which makes me feel comfortable, having a sense of home (like what I am used to in Australia)”.

As one of the youngest institutions to be ranked among the world's top medical schools, the Faculty of Medicine at The Chinese University of Hong Kong is reputable for being innovative and forward-thinking, having nurtured cohorts of new-generation healthcare professionals who have gained national and international recognition.
