Dr Ken Liu of The University of Sydney recently completed his visiting fellowship at our Institute of Digestive Disease (IDD) and we are pleased to share that an article he first authored during his training has been published in the American Journal of Gastroenterology.

Together with the IDD team and under the lead of Prof Henry Chan, director of the Institute and professor of our Department of Medicine and Therapeutics, Ken worked on the “Prognostic Value of Controlled Attenuation Parameter by Transient Elastography” as part of his PhD research. The study shows that controlled attenuation parameter, a recent method for non-invasive assessment of steatosis, has a diagnostic but non-prognostic role in patients with fatty liver disease (Am J Gastroenterol. 2017 Oct 31. doi: 10.1038/ajg.2017.389. [Epub ahead of print]).

Another paper from a second project Ken worked on is on the way and we shall update you with more news soon. Our Faculty of Medicine has nurtured cohorts of new-generation healthcare professionals and has won regional and international recognition for its prominent research work and ability to turn scientific advances into innovative clinical practices.
