Kai Chong Tong Clinical Skills Learning Centre

Kai Chong Tong Clinical Skills Learning Centre (CSLC) is a multidisciplinary centre that supports the teaching, learning and assessment of clinical skills and procedures required for our graduates by the Medical Council of Hong Kong. The Centre provides a user-friendly, education-focused, and effective learning environment.

Located on the second floor of the Lui Che Woo Clinical Sciences Building at the Prince of Wales Hospital, the CSLC covers an area of 2600 m2 and includes nine Consultation Rooms, four Multi-Function Teaching Rooms, four Simulation Suites, and one Control Room.

The consultation rooms are designed to replicate a doctor's office, complete with computer and internet access. Activities and discussions within the rooms can be observed and recorded through audiovisual connection to the Control Room for educational and assessment purposes. These rooms are primarily used for students to practise consultation skills such as history-taking, communication, and physical examinations.

Teachers at the CSLC provide a wide range of hands-on procedural training using manikin simulators. Students also have the option to reserve these manikins for self-directed practice. The Centre features four state-of-the-art Simulation Suite with high fidelity, full-body, computerised mannequins where training for medical emergencies is conducted. Moreover, the Centre houses a Harvey Cardiopulmonary Patient Simulator, which realistically simulates various pulses, heart sounds, murmurs, and breath sounds. Furthermore, patients are also invited to the Centre to provide students with the opportunity to learn from real-life cases.

The Centre offers a variety of hand-held ultrasound devices for students to learn and practise the point-of-care ultrasonography. Additionally, students have the option to reserve these devices to perform hand-held ultrasonography on patients in hospital wards. An ultrasound simulator is also provided at the Centre for students to engage in self-directed learning and practice.
